Custom Autonomy Mod
The Custom Autonomy Mod is officially complete! 🎉
This release focuses on building a flexible, scalable system that gives players full control over Sim autonomy, not just a simple On/Off toggle.
With this mod, players can decide exactly what Sims are allowed to do autonomously using category-based autonomy with individual checkboxes for each type of action, including future subcategories. The goal is precision, customization, and fewer “why are you doing THAT?” moments.
🧠 Current Autonomy Categories
➜ Basic Need
Controls autonomy related to essential survival behaviors, allowing Sims to respond to needs in a more intentional and configurable way.
➜ Social
Currently implemented with casual chatting as the first supported interaction. This serves as the groundwork for expanding social autonomy into more detailed and contextual interactions in future updates.
➜ Fun
All entertainment activities are grouped together for now, including:
Watching TV
Reading
Playing games
Listening to music
In the next version, Fun will be broken down into detailed sub-categories, giving players even finer control over how Sims choose to have fun.
HOW TO USE THE CUSTOM AUTONOMY MOD
Click on any Sim you want to control.
In the interaction menu, look for “Custom Autonomy Mod.”
Select “Enable Custom Autonomy.”
Choose the category of actions you want the Sim to perform autonomously.
Repeat the process for other categories or Sims if desired.
Tips
You can enable or disable autonomy per Sim, giving you precise control.
Some categories may affect gameplay more strongly—test them to find your preferred balance.
If autonomy seems too active or too limited, revisit the menu and adjust the selected categories.

Do you have an updated version this don’t work
i'm excited to see this get expanded! i find myself getting more and more annoyed seeing my sims do things i have them traited to dislike. why is my nerdy teen who dislikes fitness using the boxing bag or her fussy popular sister who only cares about talking on the phone doing gardening? being able to stop that kind of out of character stuff would be great <3
It has a Spanish translation. Also, does it work with the current patch? Is this mod up to date?
It's good, but i find it a little too good. sims are wnating to fill the basic needs before they even got close to yellow. my sims we're constantly trying to cook food when they didnt really need to
Hi! Thank you for this lifesaver 🙏 Would you be able to add toddler specific autonomy sections to it? especially under the 'fun' category? And also maybe a 'skills' autonomy in general?

Is this ok to use with the newest patch?
Is there a way to make the custom autonomy settings apply to all Sims? If not, I'd love to see something like that added. I'd prefer to have an autonomy template that all NPC Sims use rather than having to set them individually.

ok for Mac users I figured it out :) you have to download the unarchiver app drag the RAR file into the box and it will unzip the file to work with MAC

not to be completely un-tech savvy but would it be possible for you to add a download that's just the package/script files either separately or in a folder? i play on mac and i dont know how to open the .rar files. i'm really excited for this mod and love what you do!
