Illustrating Shadowrun Metas
Since 14 months now I am using parts of the funding of this Patreon to commission illustrations for Shadowrun metavariants. The idea was to have all metavariants in an identical style finished when the SR6 companion book is released and my Eden project is finished - and everything payed by patrons. That failed :)
Not only is the successor application not ready yet, but this Patreon only paid a third of the required illustrations - the rest I paid myself. But that is okay and I am still very happy that we have this illustration project running. I often get reactions like "I had no idea that the variant .... [ has that feature / is that large / ...]" which shows how important having visual examples is for an RPG. Andreas Schroth and I try our best to take all described features of metavariants into account, have a male and female representative and at least one of them should show enough of the body to see relevant features. We also try to be diverse, though several metas are by description rooted in specific cultures.
You can watch the creation of those illustrations in the Artstreams on Twitch - most of them have been in german language so far, but starting with the last Andreas switched to English to appeal to an international audience.
Though the initial goal of 22x2 illustrations will be reached this month, I intend to keep going with the illustrations. Those among you playing Shadowrun (approx. 65% according to the last poll), will be aware that there are metasapients, SURGE changelings, shapeshifters, drakes, infected versions of metas, A.I.s ... as playable character options as well. I admit, I am a bit proud on what we achieved so far and I would be happy if I have your further support for this.
