Steve Rogers was from a simpler time. Where the lines of right and wrong weren’t so blurred, acts of war weren’t motivated by greed, and soldiers lives weren’t seen as expendable to feed the machine. Interestingly enough, in the “Spider-Man: Life” graphic novel, a story in which the characters of the Marvel Universe age along with the times, Captain America is wholeheartedly against the U.S.’s involvement in the Vietnam War. So much so, he fights against the U.S. forces himself. Steve believed in doing what was right, even if it put him at odds with the men in power of the country he loved and defended. John Walker, on the other hand, in this world is a soldier of the post 9/11 era. Even in this same episode John was lamenting that his medals were earned only because he did things he felt were not right. Steve wouldn’t have succumbed to that pressure. Steve literally went against the General’s orders to storm the Hydra base to save his friends and the rest of the platoon that was captured. Steve believed in doing what was right no matter the cost and believed in the best of people. John has seen the worst of what can happen, and therefore believes the ends justify the means. He has to, especially every time he’s reminded of those three medal of honor’s he’s earned because of it. Steve is the righteous man. John is more complex, and honestly, realistic.

Eralia I have been following you on YouTube as me and my son. Now I felt it nessasary to join this group to ask you not to watch the Hawkeye series. Don't watch Hawkeye!!! You first have to watch Daredevil the old Netflix series. The reason I'm asking you at almost at the end of Hawkeye there's going to be a villain. A big evil villain!!! You won't appreciate or be entertained enough unless you watch Daredevil. Okay???!!!! I remember when you watched Spider-Man Noway Home. The part where Peter's lawyer catches the brick crashing through the windows. He was able to catch it because Matt Murdock IS DAREDEVIL!!!! And you didn't know it. Cause why Eralia why??? Because you haven't watched Daredevil yet. It's a kick ass series my good woman. You gotta see it.

Steve was a good Captain America, but a bad soldier. Walker flips that, in large part because he was handed that role after having been through the trauma of modern front-line warfare. Steve was a weak man who understood the value of strength and integrity before he got the serum, while Walker had already been through hell, with missions where he'd failed to save people. I do feel bad for Walker because the expectations that have been put on him are more than anyone can be expected to handle... but the leaders behind those orders just don't care about the cost to him. That's why Steve was America's ass (thank you, Scott), while Walker is just America's asshole at this stage. Very excited for the finale of this series! I really love this one! As for Loki season 2, definitely watch Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania first. I _also_ hope you watch What If...?

Oh yea , you would definitely like Agatha all along it has alot of the same energy WandaVision had. As for Hawkeye I would almost tell you to wait for the holiday season since Christmas is so prominent in the show but obviously do what ever is easier for you

Don't know if anyone's mentioned this yet. This show has some massive rewrites and as you might of noticed some plotlines are left dangling like the focus on stealing vaccines and the death of Karlie's mother figure are remnants of that old plotline. Agatha for Halloween, Hawkeye is Christmas. And yeah, John's problem is that for the situations he was trained for, he's solid. But with super-soldiers, he's been in over his head... and knows it. And yeah, he's gotten too deep into his own head here, and then takes the serum... which only feeds the insecurity and anxiety.

Haven't seen 5&6 yet, but it seems like the message they are trying to put out there is that medal of honor recipients, and military heroes, can't be trusted. They aren't good people. Those medals are just lip stick for a pig. And the REAL heroes are the ones Hollywood selects that share their values. I would have preferred the new Cap to be a wonderful person UNTIL tempted by the serum. The lesson being that just being a 3xMOH isn't enough on it's own. That OG Cap was something special. Oh well.

the thing about john is yes he is a great soldier but he is a terrible captain America. the government really doesn't represent cap(steve) nor do they have the judgment to pick a new one which is why Steve chose sam because he knows his heart and how he thinks. Walker was basically set up to fail by the gov from the start.

Absolutely recommend doing "what if" after season 2 of Loki as well as just telling you that there's a show called marvel legends where with certain characters, their full personal recap is shown to help people catch up lol. There are definitely some shows I think are must-watch besides Loki and WandaVision that really set the current state of the MCU and the movies: The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Hawkeye - characters will be in future MCU movies Ms. Marvel - characters will be in future MCU movies Agatha All Along - characters will be in future MCU movies Vision Quest - when it comes out before the next Avengers movie later this year Given the multiverse aspect of things, I think What If? is a good watch, but not necessary. I loved Moon Knight, even if they probably won't use him again. I actually liked most of She-Hulk, but I get the criticism. Wonder Man is a good watch. Any Spider-Man property is good, so Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and Spider Noir are both good watches, but not essential to the MCU experience. Same with Daredevil: Born Again. I would avoid Secret Invasion, Eyes of Wakanda, Ironheart, Echo, and Marvel Zombies (unless you really like that episode of What If?).

A fun movie for Halloween might be Werewolf by Night (2022), but it's not really connected to the main MCU (at least not yet) that I can tell, just a fun one. It's part of the "Supernatural" side of Marvel that they haven't really delved much into, but might in the future. But the movie is still fun for Halloween.

if you are doing hawkeye, consider some Christmas vibes... if you want and are into that.

You definitely caught my major issue with the series: Super soldier inflation ... But I guess its the most "down to earth" villains that they could come up with and still pose a threat. But all the character arcs and developments are so great and important. Love to see the lore.
