I’d never heard of Ren before this either, and honestly at the very start I wasn’t sure if it was gonna be my thing. Then somewhere along the way it just completely hooked me. By the end I was sitting there with chills. What an insane performance. The delivery, the emotion, the back-and-forth dialogue with himself… genuinely powerful stuff. Also, adding another recommendation onto the pile: Monsters by James Blunt. Just… prepare yourself emotionally for that one. It is absolutely brutal in the best way. I will also keep encouraging you to check out Pentatonix, you wont regret it.

You're doing music reactions now? I'm so excited. There are a lot of great Ren recommendations in the comments already. Here are some other band recs. Sleep Token (my fav), Maphra, NF, Spiritbox, and Bo Burnham. There are a ton more but these are some great ones.

Yay I am loving your music reactions so far and I'm not surprised. It would be great to see you react to more REN. The psychology and intelligence of his songs are right up your alley. I'm also going to recommend SLEEP TOKEN. I have a feeling the song "Emergence" would be a great place for you to start with them. I'm here for a lot more music reactions with you!! Love it!

A little more backstory on Ren. Ren started busking in Wales when he was 17. In 2010 he was noticed by a Sony producer and signed a development deal with Sony. Later that year his close friend Joe Hughes committed suicide and Ren has several songs dealing with that topic and his loss. In 2012 he started recording his first album with Sony when Ren became very ill. He had mental dissociation, physical pain and chronic fatigue. He was bed ridden for 23 hours a day. The contract with Sony was canceled. Doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong and diagnosed him with depression, bipolar disorder, chronic fatigue syndrome, and as a result also had stressed induced psychosis. Nothing seemed to be working, the drugs he was given had severe side effects and the doctors kept telling him it was all in his head. In 2015, while researching his symptoms online he came across a stomach infection that matched his symptoms. Going to a new doctor he told them exactly what they needed to give him some antibiotics. This was the first time something actually worked. Going to another doctor he divulged everything and teased positive for Lyme disease. Because it was misdiagnosed for years Ren had major autoimmune issues, pain, brain damage, PTSD, and fatigue from Lyme disease and the antipsychotic drugs that he was given. Ren now makes regular trips to Canada to get stem cell treatments and is recovering but it still prevents him from committing to many concerts or go on tour. Ren is an independent artist and writes, produces, and publishes his own songs. Especially after his issue with Kujo and his sample in the song Sick Boi. Sick Boi was Ren’s big hit and topped the charts in the UK at #1. After reacting to that song, you should watch Ren’s video on why it was taken off of YouTube and his beef with Kujo. (You can do that on your own). Then watch Kujo Beatdown for his epic distrack. There are so many more good songs Ren has released and they are all unique. Enjoy the rabbit hole and welcome to the Renegades.

For some "Spitting Barding" definitely the Tale of Jenny and Screech.

Some fun facts about the video. They didn’t have permission for the location. They got 4 takes before they were kicked out. The audio was recorded on a cheap lav mic and a guitar pickup only. The audio was all one take with the filming mostly that same take ( only a couple of shots were different). When they got kicked out Ren was devastated and didn’t think it was salvageable. He is a producer and edited and balanced the whole song himself. As mentioned before, Ren never copyrights reactors. You don’t have to muffle, distort, clip or blur any of his videos. Hi Ren is probably the most reacted to music video on YouTube. If you happen to get a copyright strike on any of his songs just fill out his form and it will get cleared with no hassles. He is extremely talented and his songs cover a wide range of genres.

This is a fantastic rabbit hole to dive into, he covers so many different styles and is such a good story teller. He is a modern day bard.

Love that Ren and Chris Webby are cool with reactors. Another one is The Fat Electrician. The Fat Files are super entertaining and informative.

Schizophrenic rock? Is that a genre I haven't heard of before?... The SKA genre from the 1980s got a bit strange at times also... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLwzXenTlcA And then there is also the obligatory talking Cello.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbhxLjJCt7s

When I first heard this I was blown away. There's not a lot of new music that really stands out to me and this definitely did. Kind of the same vibe as the brilliant argument they did in The Two Towers between Smeagul and Gollum. There's also an element of The Screwtape Letters by CS Lewis in it as well. Of course it all circles back to 1 Peter 5:8 "Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour."

This was also my introduction into Ren, I forgot how great this song truly is. I always interpreted it as a battle within, where he denies himself on one side, yet praises himself on the other. That, to me, was the eternal dance he spoke of. In the end, he chooses to believe in himself. You actually said, "could you imagine all the people that told him it wasnt a good idea?" Exactly like that, but constantly in your head. I feel like it is the first step to what makes him great, he trusts the process, he knows what he's doing, and knows it will be amazing! But what if it's not? He is a one of a kind talent that anyone could find a song they like by him. That is a rare, truly unique quality that you do not see often. I hope you keep listening to him! Eventually you'll find out that he has an immaculate singing voice and is in a band called The Big Push, which i believe someone on here has already mentioned. Either way, you made me feel like it was my first time watching it again, which I believe is what a reaction video should be all about. So, thank you!

Tales of Jenny and Screech (13 minute trilogy), Back on 74/Message in a Bottle, Chalk Outlines, How To Be Me, Sick Boi, Seven Sins, THE MONEY GAME TRILOGY! and on and on and on REN LOVES REACTORS… he is independent and doesn’t copyright anyone so this stuff can go on YouTube without a problem. There’s a simple process he has set up for reactors to reach out to make sure copyright clears, and he claims no monetization on any of it. He is 1 of 1 and if you continue this and get to know his story, you’ll never go back
