Imagine watching this movie in real time at the theater. Everyone shocked in the end of the movie, hanging there and just biding time hoping for the next movie to come. In retrospect, we were lucky because The Pandemic hit the world at the end of 2019 and early 2020, and the 'Avengers: Endgame' was released during mid 2019, so if everyone got cut off by the pandemic the torture might have lasted for nearly three years.

I'll never understand the Thanos hate. Mans was a great villain but not the great type you really hate he's like a great villain in the sense that you am almost like yeno what good for you man you got the job done.

you have no idea how quiet the theater got, you can hear a pin drop. then the year long wait for Endgame.... a title that was not even revealed until later

Kevin Bartelen · March 16, 2026

The Thanos explanation is that he proposed genocide to save his planet, the leaders of his planet rejected his plan and the planet as a whole fell to ruin. From there he sees the problem on his planet as a galaxy wide problem and resolves to enact his solution no matter what. He couldn't save his planet so he'll save everyone else. This plan is of course a result of tunnel vision, especially when you consider that with the stones, instead of killing half, he could have doubled all the resources instead, but he had it in his head that his plan is the only way so that's what he's going to do, no matter what it takes.

The most epic Avengers, but so much heartbreak and sacrifice just to lose. But in the end, it didn't even matter - Linking Park sorry had to do it XD Great story, love how these people shine in these terrible times, but nothing anyone should ever be forced to live these moments in time/space etc. So thank god it's just a movie universe, right? Thanks for reacting to it and feeling the feels that isn't possible for the once already been through it already. And thanks for thinking of the after credits scene.

When I saw this in the theater the second time, there was the stunned silence you'd expect at the end. And then when Thanos smiled at the end I heard one young woman who was obviously crying screamed, "Fuck you!!" You gotta watch Ant-Man & The Wasp and then Captain Marvel before Avengers: Endgame.

Before I even watch this reaction, I just wanna say that I hope you are doing okay and taking care of yourself and know that those of us who enjoy watching movies along with you care about your wellbeing first and foremost and don’t at all mind waiting extra time for your videos. The fact that you even make these is awesome enough. For me, getting to rewatch these marvel movies with you is like getting to experience a new friend you’ve made watch the stuff you’re into and start to get why you’re into it to begin with. To hear your laughs, crys (a lot of crying 😅), and sometimes out of pocket commentary (lol 😆🤣) is always a highlight in my day. But I would never want this to no longer feel fun and relaxing for you and instead just another obligation on top of the many I’m sure you already have on your plate. You’re appreciated and cared for. Okay, enough sappy stuff. Time for me to watch Infinity War wreck you, Military Bestie! 😄

His motivations were explained pretty clearly imo. He suggested a solution to save his planet, his people didn't listen so the entire planet went to shit so now he's hellbent on saving the rest of the universe from that same fate.

L
LaserLamb · March 14, 2026

🤣Yeah, every time Thanos was in town for a Broadway show, all the damn traffic kept making him late! He just couldn't take it anymore!!! Alot of tow trucks had to move alot of empty cars, it wasn't easy! On the plus side, Putin was disintegrated. 😃👍🏻 Eralia, the most wise man in Hebrew scriptures is King Solomon. Renowned for his wisdom. He wrote the book of Ecclesiastes & The Song of Songs. In Ecclesiastes he says, "There is a time & a purpose for everything under heaven. A time for war & a time for peace." Now, that doesn't mean we should desire war, it just means it's an inevitable occurrence. Civilizations largely formed only by struggles for power & resources, with fear of their fellowman as their motivation, so they waged wars. There are still a handful of nations who function by saber rattling, except it's not sabers anymore, it's WMDs. Pair that with religious ideologies in the driver's seat & you've got a recipe for disaster. I know some folks here will disagree with me, but, if this war didn't happen now, it would be sooner or later, & much, much worse. It's been coming for a long, long time. I salute & thank you for your contribution to the effort, & I pray for your safety & the best outcome of this moment in history. We love & respect you very much Eralia. Keep on balance & don't despair. ✨️💖✨️

D
D · March 14, 2026

All of us that have seen this knew what was coming, so of course we didn't want to spoil the experience. It's somewhat key to the entire MCU saga. You definitely didn't miss anything on the way. The pieces were laid out and hints given across the films. Some backstory for explaining Thanos, he's a bit more flimsy in motivation in the movies just because the entire saga of comics wasn't adapted, and the original reason is a bit wild. In the comics, Thanos was obsessed and in love with Death, which is personified in the comics. He wanted to impress her and woo her, so he swore to end half of life in the universe to do so. In the films, we get a more utilitarian perspective as justification for why Thanos does what he does. As for this film, it's a core memory. If we thought it was crazy getting The Avengers to happen, this was another level of build up pay off. I saw it on opening afternoon in Times Square, and it was packed. The theater erupted at each dusting, and we all felt it. The entire population walked out in stunned, shocked, and devastated states, and the people in line coming after us all started getting worried looks on their faces going in. Just take heart knowing it's not over. We had to wait I think it was something like 10 months to find out what would happen to everyone. You don't have to suffer as long. Enjoy Ant-Man (it's fun) and Captain Marvel before getting to the last part. of this saga.

C
CJMc · March 14, 2026

Ok...true to my word, I didn't sleep until I watched. Your feelings are about what we expected, and what we all experienced the first time. I'm hopeful these movies are giving you the emotional cleanse and relief that you watching them is giving us. That's the sad part. We all see the toll current events are taking on you. And I can't overstate how you have become a lifeline for me and my wife with your beautiful soul and heartfelt videos. But yeah...the next two, as you've been told are necessary, and a pallette cleanser for Endgame. They were shoehorned into the year between Infinity War and Endgame, and introduce important characters and concepts for what is coming. Afterwards...well...I realize just now, talking about afterwards, is kinda spoilery. We will be here. Take care of yourself. And just know you've been taking care of us as well.

R
Randy Overbeek · March 14, 2026

Yay! Great reaction, as always! This movie is incredible. There are so many characters and moving pieces, but it all flows so well and nobody feels forgotten. I've never been more shocked in a movie theater than I was at the end of this, and the entire audience gasped along with me. It had a huge impact on pop culture. You should definitely watch Ant-Man 2 and Captain Marvel before Endgame. They aren't strictly necessary, but they do introduce characters and concepts that you'll want to know. They're also pretty good, and there's no reason to start skipping at this point. After Endgame, you should definitely watch Spider-Man Far From Home to close out phase 3. That might be a good time to take a break if you want to catch up on some other non-MCU Marvel things. Spider-Man 2 and 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2 are all worth watching, but you'll at least want to see Spider-Man 2 and Amazing Spider-Man 1 for context before seeing Spider-Man No Way Home in phase 4. It's not strictly necessary, but you'll benefit from knowing some of those characters. You'll also want to see some X-Men before Deadpool & Wolverine in phase 5, probably at least X-Men 1 and 2 and Logan. Many of the MCU shows are good, but it takes a long time to watch a show. WandaVision and Loki are probably the best/most important. You'll want to see WandaVision before Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness, Ms. Marvel before The Marvels, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier before Captain America Brave New World. I think those are really the only direct connections, and even they aren't strictly necessary to enjoy the movies, but they will be helpful. Beyond that, it's just a question of which characters and formats you prefer. Most are worth watching, but some are definitely better than others. There are also many MCU-adjacent Marvel shows. Daredevil is almost certainly the best one (and he does show up in Spider-Man No Way Home), but Jessica Jones and Luke Cage are also very good. They (and Iron Fist) join up Avengers-style in a miniseries called The Defenders, which is a fun concept. Agents of Shield also has a lot of fans and can be really fun. It directly ties into the MCU at first (Colson lives!) before kind of breaking off in later seasons. The Inhumans is not well-regarded, but it intersects with the MCU in Multiverse of Madness. What If...? is an animated show with MCU characters in creative circumstances out of continuity. There is actually a lot more if you want to dig deeper. I left out a bunch of shows, there is a separate Sony universe of Spider-Man adjacent movies, and there are many older movies like Blade. (Speaking of old, I dare you to watch Howard the Duck!) And we haven't even touched on DC comics properties. There are a lot of good Batman movies, for example, and the Snyderverse tried to replicate the MCU to mixed success. Many of those are worth watching if you want to expand beyond the MCU.

Fantastic reaction E, I knew it would hit ya. We can never predict when some great stories find us, sometimes in the calmer times of life or at the most stressful. But it is still impactful. At the time we had to wait a year for Endgame, with Ant man and Cap Marvel in between, (which are good and worth the watch). So delayed gratification is what we are used to. Take care 🍻

S
Simon Argent · March 14, 2026

OMG, yay! We’re here — the beginning of the endgame. Everything in the MCU has been building toward these last two Avengers movies, and ever since you started your Marvel journey I’ve been waiting for this moment. I’ve been so excited for you to finally get here. Also… 200 hours worked in two weeks is wild. I can only imagine how exhausted you must be. I really appreciate that you still take the time to sit down and share these movies with us. I’m always eager (and a little impatient) for the next reaction, but real life definitely comes first. Make sure you’re taking care of yourself — we’ll all be here whenever you have time to watch. One small thing about the lead-up to this movie: even though Thor: Ragnarok technically released before Black Panther, I’ve always felt they almost work better the other way around when watching. Ragnarok’s post-credit scene leads directly into this movie with the giant ship appearing, so having a whole movie in between can make that moment easy to forget. When you said “I can tell this is going to be an emotional movie”… oh sweet summer child 😂 You have no idea what’s coming. Also just echoing what a lot of people have mentioned already: before jumping into Endgame, it’s definitely worth watching Ant-Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel. The urge to go straight to the finale is strong, but those two add some important context. One thing I noticed you were wondering about was why Hulk keeps refusing to come out. The general idea is that he got absolutely bodied by Thanos at the start of the movie. Hulk has basically always been the unstoppable force, and suddenly he meets someone who beats him down like it’s nothing. After that, he’s kind of shaken and goes into hiding rather than risk getting wrecked again. One of my favourite things about the MCU is the music. Each hero has their own theme, and in the big crossover movies you can sometimes recognize who’s about to appear just from the music starting up. When you noticed the Guardians theme kicking in — that’s exactly the kind of moment I love. And later when Cap shows up and the music starts as the train passes… literal chills. I also had to laugh when you said the Guardians meeting Thor felt like watching DnD. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — you really should watch Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves at some point. It’s such a fun, lighthearted movie and honestly has big Guardians energy. And I can’t believe some people complained about the cats being in the room. Kitty cameos are a feature, not a bug. Always happy to see them pop in during reactions. There are so many incredible moments in this movie that it’s almost impossible to pick favourites. Groot sacrificing his arm, Thor arriving on the battlefield… absolute peak hype. And somehow the story still has even bigger moments ahead. I’m so excited to see you finish out Phase 3. Take care of yourself in the meantime — we’ll all be here ready for the next one.

C

Look up audience reactions from when this movie first came out. It was wild. Credits rolled, and the audience just either sat in stunned silence or started crying. It. Was. Nuts. R
Russ Tan · March 14, 2026

The crazy thing about this movie is that Thanos is functionally the protagonist. It's his journey that we follow and all our heroes are his antagonists. Really flips the whole traditional set up on its head. Also, really sad detail because Rocket is my favorite MCU character: The last thing Groot said to him before being snapped was "Dad."

J
Jayson Phillips · March 14, 2026

LOL yeah now picture watching this in the theatres, walking out to the parking lot not knowing WTF just happened. Then having to watch 2 more Marvel movies to get to the conclusion. In the comics all this crap he did was to impress a girl. He was in love with Lady Death but she would not give him the time of day so he killed all these people for her! Love your reaction, I'm happy you found some time to record this, I get the 12hr shifts during war time. Ty for serving and defending the US!

#MaxwellDidNothingWrong · March 14, 2026

It's not controversial to sympathize. They did a great job with that. But the counter point is weaved throughout: "we don't trade lives". No matter what the problem is, poverty, hunger, pollution, overcrowding ... doesn't matter, if there's another way, we'll find it together. And if there isn't, well, we'll do that together too.

Thank you for the reaction Eralia! Yeah, this movie hit everyone like a ton of bricks when it came out, the emotions are very understood. We spent a decade with these characters, and so did you since you watched all of the movies leading up to it. The importance of watching all of the movies isn't just for the lore, its for the emotional weight of this movie. The way this movie unfolded was rather unheard of in mainstream media. In the theaters, up until the end credits we were all thinking 'no way they can't just do this????' because it was just something that DIDNT happen in movies. The good guys are supposed to win!... right? Anyhow, I hope you and everyone else in the line of duty are as safe as can be, and I look forward to your future reactions, especially Endgame!

Thanos here is simple. He saw his home world dying due to not enough resources for the population, said we could randomly wipe half the planet to save it, they said no, his entire home world died like he predicted. In that case the half wipe was the obvious better choice. So in his mind, he sees it happening to the universe. And he already has evidence to his belief/method being a better option (we can get into a whole nother discussion on different options, but this is thanos’). From each of their own perspectives, Wanda and thanos sacrificed their most beloved to save the universe.

Thanos only did it for balance in the cinematic universe. In the comics, he did this to impress Lady Death, whom Thanos is obsessed with. Instead of being impressed, Death remains largely unimpressed and distant, which causes Thanos to fall into a cycle of self-doubt.

If she knew Star-Lord would lose it, she should've stepped in instead of just looking away. They could've grieved together. This was a conversation for after they got the glove off. So, the fate of the universe is partially on both Star-Lord and Nebula.

absolutely!

Troy · March 13, 2026

Yeah, this devastated me in theaters. Next, Ant-Man and The Wasp. And if time permits, Captain Marvel. And then another Avengers movie. And try not to read too many comments, because it only takes one person to spoil things.

Ant-Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel next

Jonathan Schmidt · March 13, 2026

I watched this while TDY in Arizona in 2018, it was crazy. A couple more before Endgame. You'll enjoy them.

M
MotoDork · March 13, 2026

I really REALLY hope you are not skipping over Ant-Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel. Those are necessary.

E
Edgar Mendez · March 13, 2026

Love the reaction! So glad you had no spoilers. Honestly, I expected a lot more crying lol, but your facial expressions say it all. Hope you heal from this one soon because here comes endgame ❤️

eralia · March 13, 2026

i think i’m honestly exhausted from my real work and the state of the world 😭 i have been a lot more emotional than usual and so watching such a devastating film was just a shock to my system 🥲

J
JaRail · March 13, 2026

(NO SPOILERS): Infinity War was such a massive shock when I saw it. For so long we watched these goofs and heroes. We built up a sense of safety in the trope of superheroes always winning. Then suddenly some part of the real world we want to escape was introduced: the hero doesn't always win. I don't know if there will ever be another movie like Infinity War. They built it up over so many movies. It's almost impossible to grasp how powerful this movie is without having gone through all the movies before. Take your time letting this one sink in. Maybe watch it again. Knowing how it ends colors your view on the whole movie. Knowing it's hopeless for them makes every scene even more powerful. You hang on every line of dialog looking for answers. But yes, ultimately you'll just need to see what comes next. I now consider you fully initiated into how powerful the MCU truly is and why we have such strong feelings for these movies. wishing you all the best with everything

D
Dwight Munson · March 13, 2026

I've been there with the insane work weeks and long hours. You'll get through this. It builds character. Hopefully it doesn't last too long.

D
Dave Olden · March 13, 2026

Next up: ‘Ant-man and The Wasp’, ‘Captain Marvel’ and then of course, ‘Avengers: Endgame.’ Recommend you don’t skip them. Have a comfy recoup from Avengers: Infinity War (ie, stay hydrated, breathe normally, rest when possible, but ultimately: you’ll be fine).

S
Stealther · March 13, 2026

Suggestion. These movies are edited to the nines to condense the details whilst driving the plot. Please pay attention to the scenes. There's so many moments you've missed in this movie. That scene on the spaceship in particular was such a great moment and story arc for Peter and you missed it completely. I'm not trying to be mean and completely selfish about it, because as someone who grew up waiting for the next movies I consider people who are getting into MCU now extremely fortunate and I would hate for you to have a worse time enjoying these. I can feel that the BS that's happening in the world having its affect on you Eralia. I think I would enjoy this watchalong way more when you yourself are in a better mood to enjoy it. If you need a moment I'm sure myself and many others wouldn't mind having these delayed to have content of you that is fully enjoying the media rather than trying to. I think it's completely understandable to take a short break to deal with the emergency, especially given your job description. Nevertheless, I appreciate you making time to do this for us. Stay strong and stay safe!

M
MotoDork · March 13, 2026

I would also advise, unless she is hearing-impaired of course, to turn off captions. Captions distract from the visual element of the film, and spoil special moments throughout.

C
CJMc · March 13, 2026

I just got back in the states. Was on a cruise, checking several times a day to see if you'd watched it yet. I'm waiting to fly home, and I GUARANTEE that I won't sleep tonight until I do the watch along. This part of the MCU was the MAIN reason most of us came on this journey with you. (We came for this, but stayed for you)...I'm perched.

The handsome dude playing the Vision is Paul Bettany. For a fun lighthearted movie with him you can watch A Knight's Tale.

JayF · March 13, 2026

The actor playing Thanos has indeed been in a lot of things. I'd recommend No Country For Old Men except it's not what you need in your current situation. Come back to that one when your life has calmed down. What I do recommend is The Goonies where you get to see him as a teen. His name is Josh Brolin.

S
Sean Dame · March 13, 2026

Josh Brolin also plays Cable in the second Deadpool movie.

I completely understand the sentiment behind your words about it "sounding silly" that being able to escape into fictional worlds of high fantasy could have such a beneficial impact on our mental health, but the older I get, the more important stories become in my life. When I first hit my 20's, I fell out of it. I stopped watching anime, reading comics, etc. Then, my brother, who is older by five years, would still be like, "Dude! Are you watching Justice League Unlimited? Brainiac is on some crazy shit with Lex Luthor, you HAVE to watch this shit!". My "grew out of it" phase seemed to start just as his had ended, so having him geek out over everything just kinda sucked me right back in. It should suffice to say that I am nerdier now than I was in my teens. Life is crazy AF, but playing fighting games with my brother and nerding out over stuff like Supergirl is the stuff that keeps me in harmony with myself and the world. Glad you found time to watch this movie amidst the absolute craziness right now. Can't wait to watch you freak out over all of the ridiculous awesomeness! Edit: OMG. "Evil party clown!". Still laughing.

M
Mike A · March 13, 2026

Upon leaving the theater after every MCU movie before this, the crowd was abuzz with what they’d seen. After leaving the theater for Infinity War, there was a stunned silence and a bit of sobbing. After Infinity War, we had to wait almost exactly a year for Endgame (Infinity War: 04/27/18 to Endgame: 04/26/2019). Also, Endgame was known only as "Untitled Avengers Film" or "Avengers 4” until 12/07/18. The questions, conspiracy theories, and random conjecture ran rampant the whole time. People scoured old comics for hints of how the MCU would handle wrapping up this storyline.

D
Darian Harman · March 13, 2026

This is almost my exact experience. There was a cute, older couple sitting several seats over from me in the front row (that was the best I could get), and after all of the silence, the lady looked over at me and said, "Welp, see you next year!". It was so cool to feel like I was "with my people".
