the best movie ever made imo. I spent 2 hours straight just crying, but it was wonderful

Wondering when you'll react to more Tom Hanks movies like Castaway, or my personal favorite Joe versus the Volcano?

One of the most profound philosophical movies ever created. I remember my philosophy teacher telling us about his thoughts of the movie and I just kind of rolled my eyes. But watching as an adult is different. You see your own mistakes in Jenny and you see every person's potential for good in Forest. It's an incredible story.

I love this movie so much! It means quite a bit to me. I remember watching this for the first time in theaters when I was very young. I had no idea what was going on in the movie - but I still related with Forrest quite a bit! Reason being - I'm in a wheelchair and can't use my legs all that well at all. Well, back then I could use a walker but still my legs didn't work ass they should. So with that in mind I hope that my connection to this movie may be a little more clear. :) Normally I'm the sort to write detailed notes as I watch along with a reactor but I was kept busy as I watched this, playing Hearthstone. I really enjoy that game! :) lol, whatever though - I really liked this reaction quite a bit! Made me feel all the emotions! Thank you so much for doing this one!

I really hope that at some point you'll watch Band of Brothers. It's produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, and is hands down the single best WWII series ever made. It follows the men of E Co. 2-506, 101st Airborne through the European theater from D-Day to VE Day. It is ten episodes, with an additional documentary. The kid who played little Forrest is an OIF combat vet. Just a little aside.

Forrest Gump didn't set out to be a hero. He just tried to be the best person he could be. Sometimes he was an unwitting participant in historical events and at other times he was just an observer. The only thing that truly mattered to Forrest in life were the people he cared about.

You might do what other reactors do and put the movie in the corner of the screen and then blur it, this helps with syncing the movie up with your video, you can probably remove it after 30 seconds. I was able to sync it up this time because if I turned the volume all the way up I could hear the sound from your video and was able to sync it that way. Really enjoyed your reaction to it... Hope you do more movies...

It was never stated in the movie but screenwriter Eric Roth later confirmed Jenny died from complications of HIV/AIDS. This aligns with the AIDS epidemic during the time the frame of when the endsing takes played. However, the author of the original book Winston Groom specified in the sequel book, Gump & Co., that Jenny died from Hepatitis C contracted from her IV drug use.

Give Blade 1 and 2 a watch when you get the chance

Eralia, thank you so much for this reaction. It brightened my day and your empathy and understanding of Jenny was amazing. They did use actual footage, with VFX inserting Hanks into the shots as best as they could at the time (the effects won the film one of its’ six Oscars that year). Hanks won his second Best Actor Oscar for this film (his first was for Philadelphia which came out the year before). You mentioned only having seen Hanks before in Saving Private Ryan. His filmography is overwhelmingly great, with Philadelphia, Cast Away, Big, and Captain Phillips being others of his I’d recommend as among his best. And if you haven’t seen it, I’d highly recommend Good Will Hunting for a future reaction. It’s not Tom Hanks and I won’t say more since you prefer to go in blind (best way to do it).

Thanks, all, for not posting hints of what Eralia can expect ahead of time. The first time I watched "Forrest Gump", I had no idea what type of story it was and therefore did not try to anticipate what happens along the way. That's the best way to watch a movie.
