Well, my girlfriend and I met on Tinder about 2 and a half years ago. Full disclosure, it took me around 8 months to get a match (as a guy,) but for my current girlfriend, she had only been on the app for 2 weeks until she met me. I've had experiences with dating apps in the past, but she only confirmed all of the memes about how hard it is for a guy to get a match on Tinder. The system is rigged against men for some reason.

I've been getting into bodybuilding for a few years now (punctuated by periodic severe health issues). I actually got married and divorced before I started, so I can say for sure that being ripped is not necessary - having money and being a pushover helps with some women, though. For the real ones, they want a man who is confident and capable, even if they don't admit they do - the proof is in the pudding. So a man who feels good about how he looks and has made sacrifices and done what it takes to get ripped will pretty much be those things, by definition. There are studies that show that there is a limit to what women generally are attracted to when it comes to muscles, but the ceiling is pretty damn high. Also, it's a misconception that bodybuilders care about bench figures - that's powerlifters. Bodybuilders care about size, not strength.

To answer Kai's question, yes it's pretty hard for normal men to get matches on Tinder in comparison to women. I think about 80ish% of users are men, and 30-40% of women on there are only advertising OF. If you get a match, 20/80 on getting a response and 50/50 on showing up for a nonfood date. (Just local info from my area.)
