If you are to add the laser, a cheap lagless option I seen Fallout 4 modders do is just add a Red Dot to the center to the screen, might be possible on MC but idk

Yes!, but could you also try to add a suppressor, imagine the zombies being able to hear your gunshots, so you add a suppressor to dampen the noise!
