Put the update files on top of the main game, replacing the old files.
The game has a built-in auto-update system for all necessary variables, so the saves from the previous version of the game should work properly.
I always recommend starting a new game to avoid possible problems.

I'm here and have made a post today :)
When I made the hotfix, everything was fine, but apparently there was an error when saving the file. I had no idea that the hotfix was bad. I can't fix it right now, but I'll get it sorted out tomorrow or the next day. If you're starting a new game though, then you don't even need a fix.

What do you mean it doesn't work? You'll need to download the full game anyway and then apply the fix.
