Chel Shaded Beejay

I am gonna do one more re-render I think after fixing a physics issue with Chel's earrings. Pretty fun how fast it is to render animation in this style! Might add more angles, we'll see

2023.09.18: Added an alt angle and fixed the issue with the earring flying off her ear

What makes cel shading faster?

The usual style I render in, is a physically based, ray traced technique. You've probably heard that word in relation to video game graphics. It requires a lot more computational power because it works in a similar way to real cameras, where it traces the light bouncing off objects that eventually hit the camera lense. The ray tracing you see in video games is incredibly optimized in comparison to what you see me do. Cel shading, on the other hand, is not physically based at all. It does not calculate light bounces and works the same way video games without ray tracing work. With enough optimization in blender, it can be rendered in real time, 30fps or even 60fps. I don't worry about optimization though, as I just want it to look pretty, and it's still lightspeed fast in comparison to what I usually do!
