New Workshop Sneak-peek (Patron Exclusive)
So I've mentioned over the past few months that I've been working on moving in to a new workshop, and the radio silence these past couple weeks has been largely due to that.
It's finally time to show a few pictures of the new place which might give you some very subtle hints on where I've relocated to.
The space is twice the size of my old shop, and this one actually has a smooth concrete floor which is something I've been dreaming of for years.
There's a lot left to do including getting power hooked back up to it as the place was abandoned for a while before I finally got my hands on it. But before I go flipping switches I think it's probably a smart idea to get a sparky out to go over it all and maybe tidy up some of the previous owners DIY wiring additions.
Besides the workshop, the property also included an old farm house. Again there's some very slight clues in the design of the house that might help you guess the country.
It's taken me the past couple weeks to get the place tidied up but it's finally got power, water, gas and the bare minimum furniture I need to survive.
One of my priorities was getting my computer set up (I actually carried my entire PC minus the case and peripherals with me on the plane) and now that I've got it in a super temporary set up I'll be able to start editing together the recaps for the Stagea build and also get a bit of CAD work done for the upcoming project.
I've tried to not just keep myself cooped up inside cleaning though and so the other day I did go out to my local car meet, some of you may recognize the scenery.
The coolest thing was that while I was at the meet, there was a convenience store selling little model kits and so now I've got something else to distract me and keep me procrastinating from working on my videos.
Moving to a new country and living on your own for the first time is a pretty huge step and so to be quite real with you all, my mental health has been a bit of a rollercoaster these past few weeks. I'm getting the hang of it but it's going to be a little while before I'm back operating at 100% and so I'm giving you some advance warning that things might be pretty slow.
And let me know if any of you are interested in seeing house renovations too. I'll definitely be filming me fixing up the workshop and posting that on YouTube as well, but if you want to see the same sort of videos but for gardening or restoring an old house I could consider that too.
🤙🤙

Congrats! I’m looking forward to see more in this direction 👌 Nice mic.-stand 🤌🏻
Wow I’m super jealous. I would love to visit Japan it’s definitely on the list. I’ve made a start trying to learn Japanese. It’s v difficult. Love to see some videos of the workshop/house build. Also just some general videos of how it is moving to Japan as a foreigner.
Learning Japanese puts you a step above a lot of the people that move over here. I've hung out with quite a few mates that have been living here for years and still barely know enough Japanese to order ramen haha. I'll for sure be posting updates and maybe even a little general info here on Patreon
Wow, Congratulations! Super excited for you Dude. Kinda low key jealous - Japan is a fascinating country.
Thanks brother, wanted to live here pretty much my whole life.
Wow, congratulations, the shop and house look amazing! I’d actually be very interested to see you fixing up that house, I have no idea what goes into renovating or fixing Japanese interiors or gardens. Amazing move, looks like a great start. What made you decide to move across the ocean to a new country?
Thanks man. I'm thinking yeah I'll probably post some house updates just over here on patreon and once I start doing serious work like redoing floors and walls and stuff I might film the process. I've just always wanted to live here. Being from NZ everything has to be shipped over and so it's kinda a nightmare getting anything and since virtually everything I want comes from Japan moving here just made sense. Plus it's really about the only other country I could think of that could compete with the quality of life and beauty of NZ.
Glad to hear that you finally made it there! Would love to see any projects you do including house and the car model. Can you speak Japanese?
Cheers bro. Yeah I think the first few months I'll have nothing to share but these smaller house / hobby updates haha. I can speak enough to get by but improving is definitely something I want to work on.
Finland is such a beautiful country ❤️ For real though, I'm super excited for you, I would love to move to Japan someday!
Hahah, it's taking some getting used to but I think I'm gonna end up really happy here
Holy shit! So cool you moved out to Japan! Would love to see work on the workshop and house reno, love that shit. But I also know how challenging and lonely moving to a new country can be. I hiighly recommend prioritising making some new friends and getting that support structure in place. Super excited for this next chapter! When do the cars get shipped over?
Yeah man, absolutely huge. I've been trying to get out and about and build some contacts, definitely something I still need to work on. Getting the cars over here is a bit of a complicated story. For now I'm only bringing one with me and it's one that I haven't even shown at all on any of my social media. The Stagea and the MX5 are staying in NZ for now. But it's likely going to be at least another month before the container even leaves NZ and so it will be half way through the year before it and my car and all my moulds and tools arrive.
