Expecting More Mod!
✨ Expecting More — Early Access Release ✨
I am so excited to finally share Expecting More, a relationship and family-planning gameplay mod for The Sims 4, created with love by Dollish.
Before I get into this, I want to ask that you PLEASE know that this is my first mod and I have slaved over this for weeks! That being said, there definitely may be some bugs/kinks to work out over time but i'll do my best to stay on top of them! Please report everything through the Discord!
This is so much more than just an interaction mod - PLEASE read the user guide!
Okay, lets get into it :)
A little note before you begin: this is a big, story-first mod built for soft moments, hard conversations, messy feelings, and every kind of Sim future — including child-free ones.
Expecting More is for the moments before a pregnancy, before a decision, and sometimes before two Sims realize they are dreaming about very different futures. It adds thoughtful, preference-aware conversations about children, timing, commitment, boundaries, practical planning, family history, and the life a couple wants to build together.
This is not just a menu of happy baby conversations. Your Sims can be hopeful, cautious, scared, relieved, curious, conflicted, child-free and content, or somewhere in between. Their conversations are shaped by their child-preference traits and by the choices you make while playing.
Where to find it
Click another Sim, then choose:
Friendly > Expecting More
From there, you will find the conversation categories below.
Conversation categories
Talking About Having a Baby
The starting place for couples who are beginning to talk about parenthood. Sims can share hopes, ask careful questions, and see how the other person feels about the possibility.
Practical Decisions
Talk about real-life questions: money, work, space at home, everyday care, sleep, support systems, timing, appointments, lifestyle changes, and whether a plan would make the future feel less scary.
For two Sims who want a baby, each topic has its own matching moodlet pair. A budget discussion feels like budgeting; a talk about hard nights feels realistic and supportive; an appointment discussion feels organized and hopeful.
Our Future Little One
For Sims who want a baby, this is the sweet, personal dreaming space: names, nursery ideas, future routines, family traditions, and imagining the child they might someday meet.
Fear and Vulnerability
For the conversations that are harder to start. Sims can talk about timing, body changes, money, independence, loss, family history, pressure, and the fear of disappointing each other.
When both Sims want a baby, these conversations are honest and connected rather than unrealistically cheerful. When their preferences differ, the moodlets reflect the emotional difference.
Family History
Share family traditions, memories, lessons, values, and the things Sims may want to carry forward or do differently. This category is more reflective and nostalgic than the other conversations.
Love and Commitment
Talk about protecting the relationship, promises, growing through change, outside pressure, and choosing each other through the future. Moodlets change depending on whether Sims share the same vision for family life.
Exploring Possibilities
This is the decision-focused category. Player responses matter here: the answer chosen can move a hidden leaning meter toward or away from wanting a child. Sims who already have strong preferences can still use it, but their emotional response will reflect their actual feelings.
My Boundaries
A clear space for Sims to talk about personal limits, readiness, independence, and what they need to feel respected. Two child-free Sims will receive reassuring, agreeable moodlets instead of conflict moods.
A Child-Free Future
For Sims who do not want children and feel good about that path. Talk about a beautiful child-free life, travel, time together, freedom, home, goals, pets, security, and all the ways a family can be built by choice.
Preference-aware reactions
Expecting More reads your Sims' child preferences and routes the emotional result accordingly.
Two Sims who want children receive warm, hopeful, topic-matched moodlets.
Two Sims who do not want children receive relief, agreement, understanding, and child-free future moodlets.
Sims with different preferences can receive sadness, pressure, nervousness, frustration, grief, or uncertainty depending on the topic and the Sim's actual preference.
Undecided Sims can be influenced through Exploring Possibilities, where player answers help shape their leaning over time.
The relationship pressure system
Repeated difficult conversations between Sims who want different things can quietly build hidden resentment. The system is not intended to punish normal storytelling - it is there to make repeated pressure around a major life choice matter.
Depending on your settings and the Sims involved, difficult conversations can:
reduce friendship more than romance
create escalating tension
add a warning relationship state
trigger the Great Divide decision moment
lead to a temporary separation through RPO when the relationship reaches a breaking point
The Great Divide gives you control. You can choose to separate, stay together, or let fate decide.
Dollish Settings
Click your active Sim and choose Dollish Settings to control the intensity of the systems in your save.
Resentment: Off, Gentle, Standard, or Intense
Preference shifts: On or Off
Great Divide: On or Off
Relationship decline: Off, Gentle, or Standard
Clear Dollish moodlets
Reset the selected Sim's hidden conversation progress
Requirements and compatibility
Expecting More is designed around RPO child-preference gameplay. Make sure your RPO installation is current before playing the preference-aware content. XML Injector and Lumpinou's Mood Pack are also recommended for the intended experience.
Please keep only the newest Expecting More package and compiled script in your Mods folder. Delete localthumbcache.package after updating, then fully restart The Sims 4.
Early Access notes
This mod is large and still growing. I am releasing it to patrons because the best stories come from real saves, different couples, different traits, and different play styles. Please test gently, keep backups of important saves, and let me know exactly what happened if something feels off.
When reporting an issue, please include:
Which submenu you used
Which interaction you selected
Both Sims' child preferences
A screenshot of the moodlet or error
Whether you had updated the package and script, cleared cache, and restarted

Please share screenshots whenever you can — especially if a conversation, moodlet, Great Divide choice, or relationship outcome feels surprising. Those details help me make the mod more personal, more reliable, and more fun to play.

The mod doesn't work also for me. Speech bubble with dots. I have RPO and Mood Pack mods
I think I just found a fix! I downloaded a translation for the mod, and now it works. 😊
Hi! Unfortunately, the mod doesn't seem to be working for me. In my game, I just get the speech bubble from the mod filled with dots, but no options show up. Does anyone know how to fix this?
You need RPO and Lumpinous Mood Pack Mods for this to work!
