Like you I don't like this series as much as the LoTR trilogy. And here is why... The 3 Hobbit movies are a money grab. Plainly. The Hobbit (book) was a single book written about Bilbo's adventure. By Itself it is shorter than the 3 individual books in the LoTRs trilogy. There is just not as much story to it. So they had a new writer, who was not as talented as Tolkien, writing filler to flesh out enough for a LONG movie trilogy. So 2/3 to 3/4 of the story was not what Tolkien wrote. Where the LoTRs movies left things out certainly, They did not add so much extra to the story. That is why you caught so much of the story that just seemed superfluous. That being said, these are good movies. They are beautiful and entertaining on their own. As for the singing, you will see when you read the books, Tolkien had a lot of music and song in them. One of his greatest writing skills was as a world builder. He included music and songs for nearly all the races as part of that world building. Understanding that music is a reflection of our societies and cultures in so many ways. There was actually a lot of singing in the LoTRs movies. They just did a better job of weaving it into the story than they did in this one.

Hey, I enjoy your reactions. I really think you are being too hard on the movie. The Hobbit movies are a different vibe, The Hobbit is a different story, different book than LOTR books. Think of it like this. The Hobbit takes place during a time of peace, at least the last little bit of a time of peace. Hence why Gandalf is worried about Orcs coming in greater numbers, Trolls coming out, the Green Forest getting corrupted. But it doesn't have that same urgency, that same do or die along with the rest of the world feeling, because the threat isn't dire yet Sauron isn't on the brink of winning. I don't want to say too much to not spoil, but yeah it's gonna be more light hearted. At least this first one. Wait until the other two, and you'll see the pain and despair along with over coming great things. I feel like the first in the Hobbit trilogy is definitely more of a hey, let's go have an adventure! Yippee with orcs and Trolls, but no real threat. But it is foreshadowing and hinting at greater threat to come. Don't try to compare the two Trilogies so much. And while yeah Bilbo doesn't seem to be the Center of attention yet, just wait. If you think about it LOTR was about Frodo's journey to destroy the ring and how much of Frodo and Sam did we see? Not that much throughout the trilogy. It kept having glimpses here and there to remind us of the task, but had so much of Aragorn and his group, and the other Hobbits doing stuff that you might not know Frodo's task was the most important thing if they hadn't of talked about it. You also have to remember that all this seemingly silly or pointless stuff happening was written about by JRR Tolkien in the Hobbit. The LOTR books has a bunch of more silly stuff that they left out of the movies. Either way, the next 2 Hobbit movies are better in my opinion although I still really do like all of them.

Right into it Ok! I do feel this isn’t better than LOTR but the lore is pretty good. Good react 👍🏾🔥❤️
