Floaters

If you see persistent or unusual floaters in your visual field , book an appointment with your optometrist as it may be a sign of retinal detachment, which could lead to vision loss if not treated.

Last summer, I sustained a retinal tear in my left eye. As we age, the aqueous humour (a liquid in the eyeball) decreases in amount. This caused the vitreous humour (the other, stickier liquid) to pull away from and tear the retina.

I’ve begun seeing persistent floaters in my right eye for a few days and am now at the optometrist. We’ve known for a while that a retinal tear in my right eye is inevitable and can only be treated after its occurrence.
