I so understand I have in the not too distant past lost 2 cats one aged 24 the other 17 and 2 dogs one aged 21 and the other 17. It is heart breaking because they are family and have been with you so long. My thoughts and best wishes are with you. Your fur baby will be happily waiting on the other side of the rainbow bridge for you and having fun with all the other fur babies there until you eventually arrive, no time passes for them, only us.

You and your well being are the most important part of everything you do. There is no timeline on getting through this. Wishing you the best, that you may continue to feel loved through this, that if you can’t take care of yourself there is someone to help you do it. I never was the same after losing my childhood dog, there is nothing abnormal in being extremely deeply shaken from this loss.

I’m so sorry for you loss! When I had to put down my best friend/brother of 13 years it was very hard. He had been by my side since middle school. Sending you so much love. I was fortunate enough to know it was coming and cut some fur and have it in a baggie to rub/sniff. Also took voice memos of him snoring, sniffing etc. because you don’t realize how much you’ll miss the littlest things. Take care of yourself. For what it’s worth, it does get better and how lucky are we to have had something worth missing so much.
