We scored our skis from an REI clearance sale—just $37 each for boots, skis, and poles! Our broke little climber selves turned in every can we could find to afford a full set each.

Then we discovered…it’s Misty’s favorite sport in the world.

I’ve always been able to handle a bit of friendly competition with her, but now she’s running me into the ground—mile after mile.

Maybe it’s because I’m sometimes carrying two sets of poles, three backpacks, lunch, waters, and all her clothes...
