I love Tyler. He’ll build anything I dream up and jump into any project with me, no questions asked. We’ve both been grinding away on this house, and while it’s still a bit chaotic, you can finally start to see the vision peeking through.
Now… if you know Tyler, you know organization is not his strong suit. His version of “tidying up” usually means creating new piles on the floor and shutting the shed door with a smile. Tools vanish like socks in the dryer. I’m the opposite. I need everything to have a place. In this department we’re pure night and day.
So after a year of me sighing about the state of the shed, I realized the solution was simple: build it out so even Tyler can’t resist putting things back where they belong. 😏 Enter: sturdy shelves and DeWalt tool drawers that can actually hold weight.
It took a whole week (and a lot of sweat in the heat), but the shed is now transformed. In the process, I found every single “lost” tool. So now we own multiples of just about everything. 🙄 On the bright side, I’ll never be without a tape measure again.
But here’s the thing: in that boxed in little shed, with the summer air thick and the scent of fresh cut wood clinging to us, something more happened. The hum of power tools mixed with the musk of two men working side by side, sweat rolling, shoulders brushing. The shed didn’t just get organized. It soaked up the essence of us. A place where laughter, labor, and desire all blurred into one.
Anyway, the shed is finally functional, Tyler’s happy, and I can breathe when I walk in there. That feels like a little Sunday victory.
Hope your Sunday was just as sweet, calm, and productive. ❤️
