Fun fact Saturday: do you know when I had my little retirement from racing due to medical reasons, I actually had a stint driving V8 Supercars in Queensland?? Here’s a throwback and a half!

My late best friend Luke, was a Formula 3 driver however was sadly diagnosed with a rare form of term1nal cancer which he battled for many years. His one goal before he passed was to race in V8 Supercars, so his family and team built a race car for him. Unfortunately, he p@ssed away before he had the chance to race it when he was just 18.

A couple years later, his Dad wanted to get it out of the shed and wanted to see it on track at Queensland Raceway, and when he called me to say he wanted ME to be the one to drive it, well rest assured, I cried for hours.

It’s a surreal thing wearing the helmet and race suit of your late best friend, driving the car he never got to, but it was one of the most surreal opportunities I was ever given. (I was pretty fast too 😜)
