I’ve had a few questions about my Degenerative Disc Disease, so this is the best way I can show it! An MRI of my spine which shows the degeneration and dead disc in my L5/S1 - the discs that are located with the spinal nerve (of course 🙄) vs. a healthy spine

It doesn’t take a scientist to see the difference, so I’m sure you can see it. That scan of mine was taken 15 years ago and was when I was very first diagnosed with it. I can’t find a most recent one, but it’s now at a level 3 degeneration since then. As with a degeneration disease, it obviously worsens as the years go on.

I’ve always had the option of surgery - either get a prosthetic disc or spinal fusion, but I knew this would have altered my ability to race. So, I’ve always declined the option and chosen to live with the pain 🤣
