I went to the Taras Shevchenko National Museum in Kyiv to finally figure out who’s actually behind that portrait that used to hang over the blackboard at school. We walk through the old Tereshchenko palace, look at Kobzar manuscripts, watercolors, exile rooms and the whole “Shevchenko cult” with busts and medals. A bit of history, a bit of art nerdery, and a lot of respectful fangirling
