The moon hung high in the sky, casting a pale, silvery light over the camp. The sounds of crickets chirping and the distant rustle of leaves filled the air. Inside their cabin at the Muscle Growth Camp, the atmosphere was thick with energy—both physical and emotional. Welshy, Darran, Mark, and Josh sat sprawled on the couch, tired but exhilarated after another brutal workout. Their muscles were pumped to the max, their bodies huge and swollen from days of insane training and rapid muscle growth.
Mark sat with his feet propped up on the coffee table, flexing his quads and admiring the sheer size of his legs. “Man, I don’t think I’ll ever get used to this,” he muttered, flexing one of his calves, which now looked like a boulder. “I’m seriously gonna need new pants after this camp.”
Darran laughed, a deep rumble in his chest, flexing his triceps. “Hell, I already can’t find a shirt that fits. These arms are out of control.”
“Yeah, but you still can’t outlift me,” Welshy chimed in with a grin, flexing his biceps and showing off the dense, solid muscle that now filled every inch of his arms. The veins snaked across his forearms like roads on a map, and his chest was practically bursting through his shirt.
The four of them laughed and joked, but there was an underlying excitement in the air. They had been hitting their limits at the gym and pushing each other to grow. Their bodies were massive, but the hunger for more—bigger, stronger—was still there. The formula Coach Harlan had given them had worked wonders, but for some reason, Josh seemed... different tonight.
“Yo, anyone else notice Josh’s looking bigger than earlier today?” Mark asked, looking up from his phone.
Welshy nodded, narrowing his eyes. “Yeah, now that you mention it... he was just in the shower for, like, what? Twenty minutes?”
Darran tilted his head, suspicious. “It’s not like him to take that long. He’s usually in and out like a flash.”
Before anyone could respond, Josh stepped out of the bathroom, his towel around his waist, steam billowing behind him. The dim light from the cabin's overhead bulb glinted off his wet skin.
But something was off.
Josh’s body—already huge earlier in the day—had grown. His traps were even more massive, the thick muscles practically spilling over his shoulders. His arms had thickened, the biceps now more like granite, and his chest looked even more voluminous. His lats had expanded so wide that they brushed against the doorframe as he stepped through. His legs, already thick enough to make a bodybuilder jealous, had grown even more massive, now filling the space around him with sheer power.
“Damn, Josh,” Welshy said, eyes widening. “You sure you didn’t do something extra after our workout?”
Josh chuckled, his voice low and almost a little too confident. “What do you mean? I’ve just been following the plan, like you guys.”
But Welshy wasn’t buying it. He exchanged a look with Darran and Mark. There was something different about Josh tonight.
“Dude,” Mark said, glancing at Josh’s colossal chest, then back to him. “You didn’t, like, hit the formula again, did you?”
Josh froze, his eyes darting briefly toward the corner of the room where his bag sat. For a split second, the air between them seemed to thicken. Then, with a slight smirk, he shook his head. “Nah, man. I’m just... I’m just working hard. You guys saw me train today, right? Put everything into it.”
Welshy studied him, suspicious, but before he could say anything, Josh flexed his bicep with a playful grin. “C’mon, don’t tell me you guys aren’t jealous of these guns. I feel like I’m getting stronger by the hour.” He flexed again, making the massive bicep pop even further. The muscle surged, veins standing out like cables, and his tricep seemed to cast a shadow over his arm.
Mark whistled. “Okay, okay. You’ve got some freaky genetics, Josh. No shame in that, man.”
But Welshy wasn’t convinced. He knew Josh. They’d trained together for years, and this sudden, explosive growth—on top of everything else—felt off. Josh had always been competitive, but something about this camp, about the formula Coach Harlan had given them, seemed to have unlocked a new side of him. A side that wanted more, even at the cost of his friends.
As the group continued to talk and joke, Welshy couldn’t shake the feeling that Josh was hiding something. His physique looked even more sculpted, more perfect.
That night, after the others had gone to bed, Welshy lay awake in his bunk, staring up at the cabin’s wooden ceiling. His mind raced. The transformation they had all experienced was incredible, but Josh... Josh seemed to be taking it to a new level, and that nagging feeling wouldn’t go away.
He slid out of bed quietly, making sure not to wake anyone, and crept across the room. The dim light from the bathroom illuminated the edge of Josh’s gym bag, and Welshy’s eyes locked on it.
It was then that he saw it: the small, unmarked vial Coach Harlan had given them. But this one was different—it was almost empty. Josh had clearly been sneaking extra doses.
Welshy’s gut twisted. Josh’s desperation to be the biggest of the group, to surpass them all, was becoming evident. He hadn’t been satisfied with just the regular doses—they weren’t enough for him. He was secretly consuming more of the formula, pushing his body past the point where it could safely go.
Before he could even think, Welshy heard footsteps behind him. He turned quickly to find Josh standing in the doorway, in his underwear, his eyes dark but strangely calm.
“You’ve been snooping around, Welsh,” Josh said, his voice low, almost predatory. “What’d you find?”
Welshy froze, the vial in his hand, and stared at Josh’s growing frame. The guy was a literal mountain of muscle. The difference between him and the others was becoming too obvious to ignore. “Josh,” Welshy said, his voice shaky. “What the hell are you doing?”
Josh stepped forward, his massive chest swelling with each breath. His shoulders rolled with power as he crossed the room, his steps heavy, like the weight of his muscles was bearing down on the floor.
“I’m doing what it takes to be the best,” Josh replied, a dangerous edge creeping into his voice. “You guys might be happy with what you have. But I want more. I want to be the biggest. I want to be unstoppable.”
Welshy stepped back, clutching the vial, now fully realizing what Josh had been doing. “What if you—"
“I don’t care,” Josh cut him off, his grin wide and almost manic. “Do you think I’m going to stop just because you don’t want me to? You want to catch up, Welshy? Then you need to start doing what I’m doing. Take the formula. It’s the only way to get to the top.”
Josh’s muscles rippled as he crossed his arms, almost daring Welshy to argue. The confidence—and perhaps even arrogance—was radiating from him now, and it was clear that Josh had crossed a line. He was no longer the guy who trained alongside them—he had become something else. Something... different.
Welshy stared at him, the vial still in his hand, and for a moment, he considered it. He thought about the gains, the size, the power. But then, the reality of the situation hit him. They had all come to this camp to push their limits, but Josh was pushing his limits—and everyone else’s—way too far.
“I’m not doing it, Josh,” Welshy said, his voice firm. “You’ve gone too far.”
Josh’s eyes flickered for a second, and then he laughed softly, a dark chuckle that made Welshy’s skin crawl. “Suit yourself, Welsh. But when you see me on the stage, looking like a freakin’ monster, remember—this is what it takes.”
With that, Josh turned and walked back into the bathroom, leaving Welshy standing there, the vial in his hand, feeling a strange mix of awe and dread.
In the dark, silent room, Welshy couldn’t help but wonder—how far was Josh willing to go? And what would be left of him when he finally reached the top?
