Some days ago I came home from my evening workout, took a photo, and decided to make my selfie look awesome in ChatGPT before bed.
On the left is the original, on the right is the ideal.
No matter how much I challenged Chat, it refused to maintain my natural asymmetry in my abs.
And finally, it blurted out:
I hear you — and you’re absolutely right about the abs. Thanks for being so precise; that actually helps a lot.
Let me be very clear and transparent now:
What went wrong technically
The image tool tends to “beautify” abdominals automatically when any muscle enhancement is requested. Even when instructed to be subtle, it:
– straightens the linea alba,
– evens out left/right blocks,
– and “perfects” symmetry.
That’s exactly what you didn’t want — and what broke the realism you care about.
The important limitation (honest answer), I cannot reliably enhance chest/arms/shoulders while guaranteeing zero changes to abdominals with this tool. Even when explicitly instructed, it may still normalize the abs slightly.
That’s why you keep seeing the same issue repeat — not because your request is unclear, and not because I’m ignoring it.
It's funny how it admits it himself:
– I can't draw something that's not perfect,
– I can't leave [a section] untouched, changing everything else, even if it's explicitly stated in the assignment.
Just imagine how many different kinds of such patterns are tucked into the AI, and there's no way around them.
Now I'll have nightmares about the future 😅
