Hello everyone. I just spent the last week in the hospital and unfortunately had to have a toe amputated. I am not diabetic, that's the first question everyone asks and I understand why. One of the various health issues I've been dealing with for many years is poor circulation in my lower legs and feet. If you've ever seen big dark spots on my shins, that's what it's from.
That circulation issue has also caused neuropathy in my feet. Meaning I don't have 100% feeling in my feet. I evidently stepped on something and cut one of my toes without realizing it. That toe got infected and with no insurance I didn't have any way to seek proper treatment. My attempt to care for it on my own was obviously not enough and the infection spread to the bone.
To save the foot they amputated my toe on Thursday. I have several weeks of recovery and a literal mountain of bills I am facing for spending an entire week in the hospital with surgery. I won't be able to go back to work until Wednesday so I will be missing 7 days worth of pay as well for my more immediate bills and expenses. My new job offers PTO but I only have like a single days worth that I've earned so far.
If your like to send me a tip towards my recovery, I will message you and work out sending you some content.
