It is with the heaviest of heavy hearts that Milo Cyrus the puppy is no longer with us. 💔

Sunday, we lost him in a tragic accident in our own driveway. A delivery driver came up our private drive and struck him near our home. We are still in shock, trying to process how something like this could happen so suddenly.

Anyone who has ever loved an animal knows there is a spirit within them—a unique nature, something deeply special that can never be replaced. Milo had that in a way that was undeniable. As time went on, it became clear he thought he was human… or we were dogs. Either way, there was no difference between us. From the moment he laid eyes on us, he was in love with us. I’ve never had an animal who adored us as much as he did. He was my shadow—always doing something silly or playful, always wanting to kiss or snuggle.

He came into our lives four years ago with a story already written—found in Alabama as a tiny puppy, left for dead with severe injuries, stitches, and a drainage tube. Somehow, he survived. And somehow, he found his way to us. Just over a year ago, when I was searching for an alias, I didn’t have to look any further than my own dog—our little wrecking ball who came to us with the name Milo Cyrus.

He was the emotional support himbo for anyone visiting Gay Acres—the greeting committee, bringing a blast of energy, love, and toys from his box. His love was pure chaos at first, then melted into the best snuggles you’ve ever had. He had a human-like curiosity about everything.

I grew up on a farm—I’ve had hundreds of animals, dozens of dogs—but never one like this. I can’t fully describe how I’m feeling. I’ve never experienced loss like this before. I am still in disbelief.

Please don’t take a single moment for granted. Life is so delicate. Hug your people. Hug your animals. Cherish them while they’re here.

We love you forever, Milo
