Sky high confessional #25 ✈️ My honest take on doing content creation full-time, 4 months in...

So 4 months ago, I took the leap and went full-time as a content creator.

I’d actually been creating content on the side for a few years before that, but my corporate contract coming to an end felt like a natural inflection point. The truth though? I didn’t quite have the momentum yet to fully replace the comfort and predictability of my old salary. So there was definitely a leap of faith involved.

The first few months were intense. I was flying constantly, creating new content, collaborating, pushing myself creatively and honestly trying to spread my wings a little. And I’m really proud I did that, because it opened my world up in ways to people and opportunities I never expected.

But coming back home in May has also led to a different kind of growth.

I realised that when I’m constantly away, there are so many important parts of this life that become harder to stay on top of. The posting, editing, organisation, chats, planning, systems… all the little things that quietly keep the engine running.

So lately I’ve shifted my focus toward nurturing what I’ve already built, rather than just constantly chasing the next thing. And weirdly, that’s also created more mental space for reflection.

One of the biggest things I keep coming back to is just how authentic this life feels to me. In corporate life, I often felt like I was putting on a version of myself every day. A polished mask. But this… this honestly feels like me. The adventurous side, the creative side, the cheeky side, the emotional side. It feels aligned in a way I don’t think I’ve ever experienced before.

At the same time, I’d be lying if I said the financial side hasn’t been confronting sometimes. My income now rises and falls with content releases, chats, subscriptions, opportunities and ultimately you guys supporting what I do. That’s a huge mindset shift after a lifetime of stable paychecks, and honestly it’s taken some adjusting.

But lately I’ve been thinking about it differently. This career feels less like clocking in for a salary and more like being a farmer planting seeds. 🌱 You don’t dig them up every day to check if they’re growing. You tend to them patiently and trust the process. Some things bloom quickly, some take seasons.

And in another way, it feels like building an orchard. Over time you slowly grow reputation, trust, audience and opportunities. You build roots. And lately I’ve started to see some really exciting opportunities beginning to emerge from that. Of course, sometimes crops fail too and that's why we keep a basement full of pickled cucumbers to make it through the winter haha

So yeah… it’s been a massive mindset shift that has been truly life-changing. One I never expected to confront this deeply. But every time I zoom out and really check in with myself, I keep coming back to one thing:

I feel alive doing this.

And that’s what keeps me committed to the path. ✈️
