Passing through the Croisette, Andolini wasn’t only drawn to the lights of Cannes and the reflection of the yachts shimmering across the bay. Just the night before, sitting at the counter of an elegant seaside bar, he had noticed a waiter with a wicked smile and perfectly measured movements — the kind that lingers in your mind long after the last drink.
All evening long, their eyes kept meeting with playful insistence. Nothing too obvious, just that subtle tension drifting through the warm Riviera night air.
The next day, Andolini found the perfect excuse to continue their silent game. A few bottles to carry down to the cellar of his Airbnb, a request for help offered with a smile, and the waiter accepted without much hesitation.
In the cool darkness of the basement, surrounded by old stone walls and the scent of wood, the atmosphere quickly shifted. The dusty workbench ultimately had little use for any actual repairs. Words became scarce, replaced by bolder gestures and increasingly uneven breaths.
And when the tension finally reached its peak, it turned into a rather improvised “facade renovation,” splashed with thick white cream that left unmistakable traces across the raw wood — evidence of their Cannes escapade.
