August smells of apples, honey, and something warm. I bought a huge basket of apples at the market—red, green, and yellow. At home, I poured them into a bowl, washed them, and took the first bite. Juicy, sweet, and crisp. The taste of childhood, the taste of the garden, the taste of freedom. August—it's delicious. We'll have time to eat all of summer before it's gone.
