Remote Worker Gets Huge!
After five years of working from home, I got an email I was starting to think would never come: It's time to go back to the office.
I took to remote work so well. No commute. Not having to get dressed up. Having food delivered. Takeout. The fridge. A gym membership I never used. I gained a couple pounds the first year. More the second. A lot more the third. Honestly, I gained more than I ever thought I would. And now, my coworkers are going to see the results in person.
I dug through my closet, looking for something that still fits. I found my dress from the last office Christmas party. Back when I thought I needed to lose 10 pounds. I broke the zipper trying it on last year.
I'm dreading Monday. **People staring. **Either wondering who I am or how I got so fat. Getting winded on the office stairs and trying to hide it.
And my old work crush. **Oh God. **Seeing me like this for the first time in years. I was 90 pounds lighter and fitter the last time we spoke in person.
No more hiding behind the screen. Everyone is going to know how I spent my time working from home.
