Sometime this year or next year when I travel to Japan, I plan to cosplay as a real oiran and show you all my fit!

A common misconception is that geishas were escorts who provided sex.
That is not true. Oirans provided sex, whereas geishas were purely singing, dancing, and art entertainers.

However, even though oirans provided sex, sex was only a small part of their duties. They were not like escorts. Oirans were more like high-class courtesans. They had to be trained in classical literature, calligraphy, language, history, art, and music, in order to be successful, because many of their clients were politicians, wealthy businessmen, and other elites. In fact, they were highly educated and intelligent, and sex was only a small part of the services they provided.
